Who is "us?"
|
Linden
Tree Web Works is owned by Ann M. Roller. I wear all the hats:
graphic
designer |
programmer |
bookkeeper |
technical
support |
writer/editor |
customer
service |
marketing
director |
Chamber
of Commerce liason |
person
who vacuums the carpet & empties trash |
I enjoy all of my roles except the
bookkeeping and vacuuming. Running Linden Tree Web Works is by
far the most fun and
rewarding
job I've ever had, with the exception of being a parent.
When
a project requires expertise or skills that I lack, I
collaborate with other professionals whom I trust. Nobody
is an expert at everything, and Linden Tree Web Works clients deserve
the best.
A Little History
|
Linden
Tree Web Works was started in 2000 when I left a career in
information technology after we all survived the dreaded "Y2K." I
wanted to be more creative in my work and develop new skills.
A self-described "closet
artist", I've
been doing creative and artsy things all my life. Web design was
the perfect combination of the artistic and technical.
Before my
computer programming career, I spent seven years in retail
management. I've sold clothing, handbags,
shoes, costume jewelry and more. I've also dressed mannequins,
crunched a lot of numbers, and dealt with many thousands of customers.
It
was fun and hard work, and it was a great education.
Now I help business clients sell products and be profitable, and
help non-profit clients dispense useful information.
When
a client
is in
the horns of a dilemma, I often say, "What's going
to sell your product?" or, "What is the most important
thing you want people to know? Let's put that where everyone will
have to trip over
it." Those are lessons from retailing, and they've have played
a big part in Linden Tree Web Works'
success. I'm selling my clients, showing what makes them special,
and playing up their strongest
features.
My Philosophy
|
Figure
out what you're better at than the competition. Use this to define
yourself; don't
let others define who and what your are. |
Work
with excellent people, both clients and colleagues. Take good
care of them. Help them
be successful. |
Do
quality work. Offer no excuses. If you don't get it right the
first time, make sure you get it right the second time. |
If it
was easy anybody could do it. |
